Naimisharanyam, also known as Naimisaranya, is one of the most ancient and spiritually significant pilgrimage sites in India. The name “Naimisharanyam” comes from the Sanskrit word “Nimisha,” meaning a blink of an eye. Naimisharanyam is considered a Divya Desam, one of the 108 sacred temples of Lord Vishnu mentioned in the Vaishnava tradition. The main temple here is dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Devaraja Perumal and Goddess Lakshmi as Hari Lakshmi Thayar. Pilgrims believe that visiting this place and bathing in the Chakratirtha can wash away sins and help attain moksha (liberation).
